In 2009 I did and exhibition in Tokyo called “beauty on paper”. I remember how crazy were the days before the oppening and the feeling of beign “lost in translation” a sensation that only the westerns experience when landing in Tokyo. To relax a little I decided to take a walk around the nearby Yoyogi Park, which in that time was in full bloom of cherry trees.
I remember standing in one of the outdoor cafes from the park and gazing in ecstasy at the silhouette of a girl with a cup of coffee in front of a splendid white cherry tree. It was one of those moments in which time stops. It was the total triumph of beauty.
That cherry tree set with white flowers instead of pink made me dream of a light tree, which is the one I represented later in this illustration.
