Chelsea Girl
From 42.00€
When I lived in New York I used to take long walks around the city. One day, walking down the Lower East Side (I think at Rivington St) I passed through a laundromat. In the window I saw a girl quietly reading a book while waiting her laundry to be ready.
I love NY girls style. They are stylish even when they fill time until the spin-dry ends. They are dynamic, fun and stylish but with some casual neglect look that makes them unique. Also the girl in question was reading a shabby pocket edition of “in Cold Blod” of Truman Capote, which is one of my favourite books. Can anyone be cooler?
I had been thinking for a few days that I would like to do an illustration about NY but running away from any clichés. When I got to my apartment, I started drawing sketches of that mysterious “laundry girl” from the Lowe East Side.
