Light Tree

Light Tree

From 150

In 2009 my work was exhibited in Tokyo under the name “Beauty on paper”. I remember the days before the opening as very crazy, and in addition to the nerves of the assembly, there was that feeling of being lost in translation, which only a western traveler landing in Tokyo can have.

To relax a bit, I decided to take a walk through the nearby Yoyogi Park, which during that time was in full bloom of cherry blossoms. I remember standing in one of the outdoor cafes that populate the park and gazing ecstatically at the silhouette of a girl with a cup of coffee in front of a splendorous white cherry tree. It was one of those moments when time stands still. It was the total triumph of beauty.

That cherry tree full of flowers, white instead of pink, made me dream of a tree of light, which is what I later represented in this illustration.
